Summary: Irenaeus says that one who can do good to his neighbors and does not will be counted a stranger to the Lord's love.

### English translation (Claude)

Whoever is able to do good to his neighbors and does not do it will be reckoned a stranger to the love of the Lord.

### Translation notes

- Preserved by Maximus the Confessor (Sermon 7, On Almsgiving), who ascribes it to Irenaeus; the editor places it with the letter to Victor. The ascription rests on this one witness.
