διπλῆ τε ἡ δύναμις τοῦ πυρός, ἣ μὲν πρὸς δημιουργίαν καὶ πέπανσιν καρπῶν καὶ ζῴων γένεσιν καὶ τροφὴν ἐπιτήδειος, ἧς εἰκὼν ὁ ἥλιος, ἣ δὲ πρὸς ἀνάλωσιν καὶ φθοράν, ὡς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἐπίγειον.

And the power of fire is twofold: one suited to creation, to the ripening of fruits, and to the birth and nourishment of living things, whose image is the sun; the other to consuming and destruction, like earthly fire.
