Τοῦ γνωστικοῦ μόνου, καθάπερ λέγουσι τὴν Κρήτην ἄγονον εἶναι θηρίων ὀλεθρίων, ὁ βίος καθαρὸς ἀπὸ παντὸς πονηροῦ ἔργου τε καὶ νοήματος καὶ λόγου, οὐδὲ ἐχθρὸν ἔχοντος τὸ παράπαν, ἀλλὰ καὶ φθόνου καὶ μίσους καὶ βλασφημίας πάσης καὶ διαβολῆς ἐκτὸς ὄντος.

Only of the one who knows, as they say Crete produces no deadly beasts, is the life pure from every evil deed, thought, and word; he has no enemy at all, and is beyond envy, hatred, every blasphemy, and slander.
