ἀκριβέστερον δὲ ἡ καθʼ ἡμᾶς χρονογραφία πρόεισιν, εἰ τοῖς πεντακοσίοις εἴκοσι καὶ τρισὶ καὶ μησὶν ἑπτὰ μέχρι τῆς Δαβὶδ τελευτῆς προσθείη τις τά τε τοῦ Μωυσέως ἑκατὸν εἴκοσι ἔτη τά τε τοῦ Σολομῶνος τεσσαράκοντα· συνάξει γὰρ τὰ πάντα ἐπὶ τὴν Σολομῶνος τελευτὴν ἔτη ἑξακόσια ὀγδοήκοντα τρία μῆνας ἑπτά. Εἴραμος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ θυγατέρα Σολομῶνι δίδωσι καθʼ οὓς χρόνος μετὰ τὴν Τροίας ἅλωσιν Μενελάῳ εἰς Φοινίκην ἄφιξις, ὥς φησι Μένανδρος ὁ Περγαμηνὸς καὶ Λαῖτος ἐν τοῖς Φοινικικοῖς. μετὰ δὲ Σολομῶνα βασιλεύει Ῥοβοὰμ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἔτη ἑπτακαίδεκα, καὶ ἦν ἀρχιερεὺς Ἀβιμέλεχ ὁ τοῦ Σαδώκ. ἐπὶ τούτου μερισθείσης τῆς βασιλείας ἐν Σαμαρείᾳ βασιλεύει Ἱεροβοὰμ ἐκ φυλῆς Ἐφραῒμ ὁ δοῦλος Σολομῶνος, προφητεύει δὲ ἔτι Ἀχίας ὁ Σηλωνίτης καὶ Σαμαίας υἱὸς Αἰλὰμ καὶ ὁ ἐξ Ἰούδα ἀπελθὼν ἐπὶ Ἱεροβοὰμ καὶ προφητεύσας ἐπὶ τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου.

But our chronology proceeds more exactly, if one adds to the five hundred and twenty-three years and seven months up to David's death the hundred and twenty years of Moses and the forty of Solomon; for he will reckon in all, to Solomon's death, six hundred and eighty-three years and seven months. Hiram gave his daughter to Solomon at the time when Menelaus arrived in Phoenicia after the capture of Troy, as Menander of Pergamum and Laetus say in their Phoenician Histories. After Solomon, Rehoboam his son reigned seventeen years, and the high priest was Abimelech, son of Zadok. In his time, when the kingdom was divided, Jeroboam, of the tribe of Ephraim, Solomon's servant, reigned in Samaria; and Ahijah the Shilonite still prophesied, and Shemaiah son of Elam, and the man who came from Judah to Jeroboam and prophesied against the altar.
