μετὰ τοῦτον ἡ μήτηρ Ὀζίου Γοθολία βασιλεύει ἔτη ὀκτώ, κατακτείνασα τὰ τέκνα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτῆς· ἐκ γὰρ τοῦ γένους ἦν Ἀχαάβ. ἡ δὲ ἀδελφὴ Ὀζίου Ἰωσαβαία ἐξέκλεψε τὸν υἱὸν Ὀζίου Ἰωὰν καὶ τούτῳ περιέθηκεν ὕστερον τὴν βασιλείαν. ἐπὶ τῆς Γοθολίας ταύτης ἔτι ὁ Ἐλισσαῖος προφητεύει, μεθʼ ἣν βασιλεύει, ὡς προεῖπον, Ἰωὰς ὁ περισωθεὶς ὑπὸ Ἰωσαβαίας τῆς Ἰωδαὲ τοῦ ἀρχιερέως γυναικός, καὶ τὰ πάντα γίνεται ἔτη τεσσαράκοντα. συνάγεται οὖν ἀπὸ Σολομῶνος ἐπὶ Ἐλισσαίου τοῦ προφήτου τελευτήν ἔτη, ὡς μέν τινές φασιν, ἑκατὸν έ, ὡς δὲ ἕτεροι, ἑκατὸν δύο, ὡς δὲ ἡ προκειμένη δηλοῖ χρονογραφία, ἀπὸ βασιλείας τῆς Σολομῶνος ἔτη ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα ἕν.

English · Claude translation

After him Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, reigned eight years, having killed the children of her brother; for she was of the family of Ahab. But Jehosheba, the sister of Ahaziah, stole away Joash, the son of Ahaziah, and later put the kingdom on him. In the time of this Athaliah Elisha still prophesied; after her, as I said before, reigned Joash, who was saved by Jehosheba, the wife of Jehoiada the high priest, and the whole comes to forty years. From Solomon to the death of the prophet Elisha, then, are reckoned, as some say, a hundred and five years, as others, a hundred and two; but, as the chronology given above shows, a hundred and eighty-one years from the reign of Solomon.
