When the eleventh year was completed, at the beginning of the following one, in the reign of Jehoiakim, the captivity to Babylon took place under King Nebuchadnezzar, in the seventh year of his reign over the Assyrians, in the second year of Vaphres' reign over the Egyptians, and in the first year of the forty-eighth Olympiad, when Philip was archon at Athens; and the captivity lasted seventy years, ending in the second year of Darius son of Hystaspes, who had become king of the Persians, Assyrians, and Egyptians. In his time, as I said before, Haggai, Zechariah, and the Angel of the Twelve prophesied, and the high priest was Jeshua son of Jozadak. And in the second year of the reign of Darius, who, Herodotus says, overthrew the rule of the Magi, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel was sent to raise up and adorn the temple in Jerusalem.
