Τηνικαῦτα δὲ καὶ τοῦ Ἰου- δαίων ἔθνους Ἡρώδου πρώτου τὸ γένος ἀλλοφύλου διειληφότος τὴν βασιλείαν ἡ διὰ Μωυσέως περιγραφὴν ἐλάμβανε προφητεία “ οὐκ ἐκλείψειν ἄρχοντα ἐξ Ἰούδα οὐδὲ ἡγούμενον ἐκ τῶν μηρῶν αὐτοῦ” φήσασα, ἕως ἂν ἔλθῃ ᾧ ἀπόκειται, ” ὃν καὶ ἀποφαίνει προσδο- κίαν ἐθνῶν ἔσεσθαι.
