τούτῳ δὴ οὖν ἐξέστω μόνῳ μετὰ τὸν πρῶτον καὶ μέγιστον ἀρχιερέα, εἰ μὴ τὰ πρῶτα, τὰ δεύτερα γοῦν ὅμως ὁρᾶν τε καὶ ἐπισκοπεῖν τῆς ἐνδοτάτω τῶν ὑμετέρων ψυχῶν θεωρίας, πείρα μὲν καὶ χρόνου μήκει ἕκαστον ἀκριβῶς ἐξητακότι, σπουδῇ τε τῇ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπιμελείᾳ τοὺς πάντας ὑμᾶς ἐν κόσμῳ καὶ λόγῳ τῷ κατʼ εὐσέβειαν διατεθειμένῳ, δυνατῷ τε ὄντι μᾶλλον ἀπάντων, ὧν αὐτὸς σὺν θείᾳ δυνάμει κατηρτίσατο, τούτων τοῖς ἔργοις ἐφαμίλλως ἀποδοῦναι τοὺς λόγους.

To him alone, then, after the first and greatest High Priest, let it be permitted, if not the first place, then at least the second, to see and oversee the inmost vision of your souls, since by experience and length of time he has examined each one accurately, and by his zeal and care has set you all in order and in the teaching that accords with piety, and since he is more able than all to give an account in words that matches the works which he himself, with divine power, has accomplished.
