“παρακαλέσατε, οἶ ὀλιγόψυχοι τῇ διανοίᾳ, ἰσχύσατε, μὴ φοβεῖσθε.” τούτων δεῖν ἀπολαῦσαι τὴν διὰ θεὸν γενομένην ἔρημον, τοῦ λόγου προαγορεύοντος ἐπακούσας ὀξείᾳ διανοίας ἀκοῇ οὗτος ὁ νέος ἡμῶν καὶ καλὸς Ζοροβάβελ, μετὰ τὴν πικρὰν ἐκείνην αἰχμαλωσίαν καὶ τὸ βδέλυγμα τῆς ἐρημώσεως οὐ παριδὼν τὸ πτῶμα νεκρὸν, πρώτιστα πάντων παρακλήσεσι καὶ λιταῖς ἵλεων τὸν πατέρα μετὰ τῆς κοινῆς ὑμῶν ἁπάντων ὁμοφροσύνης καταστησάμενος, καὶ τὸν μόνον νεκρῶν ζωοποιὸν σύμμαχον παραλαβὼν καὶ συνεργὸν, τὴν πεσοῦσαν ἐξήγειρε, προαποκαθάρας καὶ προθεραπεύσας τῶν κακῶν· καὶ στολὴν οὐ τὴν ἐξ ἀρχαίου παλαιὰν αὐτῇ περιτέθεικεν, ἀλλʼ ὁποίαν αὖθις παρὰ τῶν θείων χρησμῶν ἐξεπαιδεύετο, σαφῶς ὧδε λεγόντων “καὶ ἔσται ἡ δόξα τοῦ οἴκου τούτου ἡ ἐσχάτη, ὑπὲρ τὴν προτέραν.”

“Be comforted, you faint of heart; be strong, do not fear.” Hearing with the keen ear of the mind the Word, who foretold that she who had become a desert for God's sake ought to enjoy these things, this our new and good Zerubbabel, after that bitter captivity and the abomination of desolation, did not neglect the dead corpse, but first of all by entreaties and supplications made the Father merciful, together with the common accord of you all, and taking as his ally and fellow worker him who alone gives life to the dead, raised up her that had fallen, having first cleansed and healed her of her ills. And he has clothed her not in her ancient garment of old, but in such a one as he learned again from the divine oracles, which clearly say: “And the latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former.”
