ὁ δὲ τοῖς τόποις ἐπιστὰς τόν τε Ἄβ- γαρον ἰᾶται τῷ Χριστοῦ λόγῳ καὶ τοὺς αὐτόθι πάν- τας τοῖς τῶν θαυμάτων παραδόξοις ἐκπλήττει, ἱκα- νῶς τε αὐτοὺς τοῖς ἔργοις διαθεὶς, καὶ ἐπὶ σέβας ἀγαγὼν τῆς τοῦ Χριστοῦ δυνάμεως, μαθητὰς τῆς σωτηρίου διδασκαλίας κατεστήσατο· εἰσέτι τε νῦν ἐξ ἐκείνου ἡ πᾶσα τῶν ᾿Εδεσσηνῶν πόλις τῇ Χριστοῦ προσανάκεται προσηγορίᾳ, οὐ τὸ τυχὸν αὐτοὺς εὐεργε- δεῖγμα τῆς τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν καὶ εἰς αὐτοὺς εὐεργε- σίας.

When he arrived in those parts, he healed Abgar by the word of Christ and astonished everyone there by the wonders of his miracles; and having sufficiently disposed them by his deeds and brought them to reverence for the power of Christ, he made them disciples of the saving teaching. And from that time until now the whole city of the Edessenes has been devoted to the name of Christ, displaying no ordinary proof of our Saviour's kindness toward them too.
