Ματθαῖος μὲν γὰρ πρότερον Ἑβραίοις κηρύξας, ὡς ἤμελλεν καὶ ἐφʼ ἑτέρους ἰέναι, πατρίῳ γλώττῃ γραφῆ παραδοὺς τὸ κατʼ αὐτὸν εὐαγγέλιον τὸ λεῖπον τῇ αὐτοῦ παρουσίᾳ τούτοις, ἀφʼ ὧν ἐστέλλετο, διὰ τῆς γραφῆς ἀπεπλήρου.
