μαρτυροῦσι τούτοις αἱ “κατὰ τὴν Ἀσίαν ἐκκλησίαι πᾶσαι, καὶ οἱ μέχρι νῦν “ διαδεδεγμένοι τὸν Πολύκαρπον, πολλῷ ἐξιοπιστότερον καὶ βεβαιότερον ἀληθείας μάρτυρα ὄντα Οὐα- “λεντίνου καὶ Μαρκίωνος καὶ τῶν λοιπῶν κακογνω- “μόνων, ὃς καὶ ἐπὶ Ἀνικήτου ἐπιδημήσας τῇ Ῥώμῃ πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῶν προειρημένων αἱρετικῶν ἐπέστρε- ‘ψεν ἐπὶ τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ θεοῦ, μίαν καὶ μόνην “ ταύτην ἀλήθειαν κηρύξας ὑπὸ τῶν ἀποστόλων παρειληφέναι, τὴν ὑπὸ τῆς ἐκκλησίας παραδεδομένην. “

English · Claude translation

To these things all the churches in Asia bear witness, and those who up to now have succeeded Polycarp, a man who was a much more trustworthy and sure witness of the truth than Valentinus and Marcion and the rest of the evil-minded. He, when staying at Rome in the time of Anicetus, turned many from the aforesaid heretics to the church of God, proclaiming that this one and only truth had been received by him from the apostles, that which is handed down by the church.
