εἴ τις οὖν κατη- “γορεῖ καὶ δείκνυσί τι παρὰ τοὺς νόμους πράττον- τας, οὕτως ὅριζε κατὰ τὴν δύναμιν τοῦ ἁμαρτήματος· ὡς μὰ τὸν Ἡρακλέα εἴ τις συκοφαντίας χάριν τοῦτο προτείνοι, διαλάμβανε ὑπὲρ τῆς δεινότητος, καὶ “φρόντιζε ὅπως ἂν ἐκδικήσειας.’’ καὶ τὰ μὲν τῆς Ἀδριανοῦ ἀντιγραφῆς τοιαῦτα.

English · Claude translation

If, then, anyone accuses and shows that they are doing anything contrary to the laws, so decide according to the gravity of the offence; but, by Hercules, if anyone brings this forward for the sake of slander, take cognizance of the outrage and see that you punish it.” Such is the rescript of Hadrian.
