πρὸς πάντα δὲ τὰ δεινὰ παρέβαλλον αὐτοὺς, καὶ διὰ πάσης ἐν κύκλῳ διῆγον κολάσεως, ἐπαλλήλως ἀναγκάζοντες ὀμόσαι, “ἀλλὰ μὴ δυνάμενοι τοῦτο πρᾶξαι· ὁ μὲν γὰρ Πον- “τικὸς ὑπὸ τῆς ἀδελφῆς παρωρμημένος, ὡς καὶ τὰ “ἔθνη βλέπειν ὅτι ἐκείνη ἦν προτρεπομένη καὶ στη- “ρίζουσα αὐτὸν, πᾶσαν κόλασιν γενναίως ὑπομείνας “ἀπέδωκε τὸ πνεῦμα.

They exposed them to every terror and led them through every punishment in turn, repeatedly trying to force them to swear, but they could not do it. For Ponticus, encouraged by his sister, so that even the Gentiles saw that she was urging him on and strengthening him, nobly endured every punishment and gave up his spirit.
