“ὅθεν τοι καὶ ἐπειδὰν οἱ ἐπὶ τὸ “τῆς κατʼ ἀλήθειαν πίστεως μαρτύριον κληθέντες “ἀπὸ τῆς ἐκκλησίας τύχωσι μετά τινων τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς “τῶν Φρυγῶν αἱρέσεως λεγομένων μαρτύρων, δια- “φέρονταί τε πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ μὴ κοινωνήσαντες αὐ- “τοῖς τελειοῦνται, διὰ τὸ μὴ βούλεσθαι συγκαταθέ- “συαι τῷ διὰ Μοντανοῦ καὶ τῶν γυναικῶν πνεύ- “ματι. καὶ ὅτι τοῦτο ἀληθὲς καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ἡμετέρων “χρόνων ἐν Ἀπαμείᾳ τῇ πρὸς Μαιάνδρῳ τυγχάνει “γεγενημένον ἐν τοῖς περὶ Γάϊον καὶ Ἀλέξανδρον “ἀπὸ Εὐμενείας μαρτυρήσασι πρόδηλον.”

“Hence, whenever those called from the church to martyrdom for the true faith happen to be with any of the so-called martyrs of the Phrygian heresy, they keep apart from them and are perfected without having communion with them, because they are unwilling to assent to the spirit of Montanus and the women. That this is true, and happened even in our own times at Apamea on the Maeander, is plain from those who were martyred with Gaius and Alexander of Eumeneia.”
