μετὰ τοῦτον δὲ τρίτῳ τόπῳ ἀπὸ “τῶν ἀποστόλων τὴν ἐπισκοπὴν κληροῦται Κλήμης, ὁ “καὶ ἑωρακὼς τοὺς μακαρίους ἀποστόλους, καὶ συμ- “βεβληκὼς αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἔτι ἔναυλον τὸ κήρυγμα τῶν “ἀποστόλων καὶ τὴν παράδοσιν πρὸ ὀφθαλμῶν ἔχων, οὐ μόνος· ἔτι γὰρ πολλοὶ ὑπελείποντο τότε ὑπὸ τῶν “ἀποστόλων δεδιδαγμένοι.

English · Claude translation

After him, in the third place from the apostles, Clement received the episcopate, who had both seen the blessed apostles and conversed with them, and still had the preaching of the apostles ringing in his ears and their tradition before his eyes — and not he alone, for many were still left at that time who had been taught by the apostles.
