τῆς γε μὴν τοῦ πατρὸς περιουσίας τοῖς βασιλικοῖς ταμιείοις ἀναληφθείσης, ἐν σπάνει τῶν κατὰ τὸν βίον χρειῶν σὺν τοῖς προσήκουσι καταστὰς, οἰκονομίας τῆς ἐκ θεοῦ καταξιοῦται, καὶ τυγχάνει δεξιώσεως ὁμοῦ καὶ ἀναπαύσεως παρά τινι πλουσιωτάτῃ μὲν τὸν βίον καὶ τὰ ἄλλα περιφανεστάτῃ γυναικὶ, διαβόητόν γε μὴν ἄνδρα περιεπούσῃ τῶν τότε ἐπὶ τῆς Ἀλεξανδρείας αἱρεσιωτῶν· τὸ γένος ἦν οὗτος Ἀντιοχεὺς, θετὸν δὲ αὐτὸν υἱὸν εἶχέ τε σὺν ἑαυτῇ καὶ ἐν τοἴς μάλιστα περιεῖπεν ἡ δεδηλωμένη.

English · Claude translation

His father's property having been confiscated to the imperial treasury, he and his family were in want of the necessities of life. He was then counted worthy of God's provision, and found welcome and rest with a certain woman, very rich in means and otherwise most distinguished, who was supporting a notorious man among the heretics then at Alexandria. He was an Antiochene by birth, and the woman kept him with her as an adopted son and treated him with special favour.
