Νεμεσίων δέ τις, κἀκεῖνος Αἰγύπτιος, ἐσυκοφαντήθη μὲν ὡς δὴ σύνοικος λῃστῶν, ἀπολυσάμενος δὲ ταύτην παρὰ τῷ “ἑκατοντάρχῳ τὴν ἀλλοτριωτάτην κατʼ αὐτοῦ διαβολὴν, καταμηνυθεὶς ὡς Χριστιανὸς ἧκε δεσμώτης “ἐπὶ τὸν ἡγούμενον. ὁ δὲ ἀδικώτατος διπλαῖς αὐτὸν “ ἢ τοὺς λῃστὰς ταῖς τε βασάνοις καὶ ταῖς μάστιξι “λυμηνάμενος, μεταξὺ τῶν λῃστῶν κατέφλεξε, τιμη- “θέντα τὸν μακάριον τῷ τοῦ Χριστοῦ παραδείγματι. “

English · Claude translation

A certain Nemesion, also an Egyptian, was falsely accused of living with robbers; but when he had cleared himself before the centurion of this most unlikely slander, he was denounced as a Christian and came in bonds before the governor. The most unjust man tortured and scourged him twice as much as the robbers, and burned him between the robbers, so that the blessed man was honoured with the likeness of Christ.
