εἶθʼ ὁμοθυμαδὸν ἅπαντες ὥρμησαν ἐπὶ τὰς τῶν θεοσε- “βῶν οἰκίας, καὶ οὓς ἐγνώριζον ἕκαστοι “ἐπισπεύδοντες ἦγον, ἐσύλων τε καὶ διήρπαζον, τὰ ‘μὲν τιμιώτερα τῶν κειμηλίων νοσφιζόμενοι, τὰ δὲ “εὐτελέστερα καὶ ὅσα ἐκ ξύλων πεποίητο, διαρριπτοῦντες καὶ κατακαίοντες ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς ἑαλωκυίας ὑπὸ πολεμίων πόλεως παρεῖχον θέαν.

Then with one accord they all rushed on the houses of the God-fearing, and each, falling upon those they knew as neighbours, carried them off, robbed and plundered them, taking the more valuable goods for themselves, scattering the cheaper things and whatever was made of wood and burning them in the streets, so that they presented the spectacle of a city taken by enemies.
