‟εἰς ἀφροσύνην δὲ κινδυνεύω πολλὴν καὶ ‟ἀναισθησίαν ὄντως ἐμπεσεῖν, εἰς ἀνάγκην συμβιβαζό- “μενος τοῦ διηγεῖσθαι τὴν θαυμαστὴν περὶ ἡμᾶς οἰκο- “νομίαν τοῦ θεοῦ. ἀλλʼ ἐπειδὴ μυστήριον, φησὶ, βασι- “λέως κρύψαι καλὸν, τὰ δὲ ἔργα τοῦ θεοῦ ἀνακαλύπτειν ἔνδοξον, ὁμόσε χωρήσω τῇ Γερμανοῦ βίᾳ.

“I am in danger of falling into great folly and indeed stupidity, being compelled to relate the wonderful dispensation of God toward us. But since, it says, ‘it is good to hide the mystery of a king, but glorious to reveal the works of God,’ I will meet the violence of Germanus head on.
