τοῖς δὲ οὐ πάμπολυς αὐτάρκης ἀπέβη χρόνος εἰς τὸ φανῆναι δεκτοὺς τῷ κυρίῳ, ὥσπερ οὖν ἔοικε μηδὲ ῾ἐμοὶ ὁ μέχρι νῦν. διόπερ εἰς ὃν οἶδεν αὐτὸς ἐπι- ‟τήδειον καιρὸν ὑπερέθετό με ὁ λέγων ῾καιρῷ δεκτῷ ‟ἐπήκουσά σου, καὶ ἐν ἡμέρᾳ σωτηρίας ἐβοήθησά σοι.᾿

To others a very long time has not proved sufficient for them to appear acceptable to the Lord, as seemingly neither has the time up to now for me. Therefore he has reserved me for a fitting time known to himself, he who says, ‘In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’
