καὶ γὰρ μέχρι νῦν οὐκ ἀνίησιν ὁ ‟ἡγούμενος, τοὺς μὲν ἀναιρῶν, ὡς προεῖπον, ὠμῶς ‟τῶν προσαγομένων, τοὺς δὲ βασάνοις καταξαίνων, ‟τοὺς δὲ φυλακαῖς καὶ δεσμοῖς ἐκτήκων, προστάσσων ‟τε μηδένα τούτοις προσιέναι, καὶ ἀνερευνῶν μή τις ‟φανείη. καὶ ὅμως ὁ θεὸς τῇ προθυμίᾳ καὶ λιπαρείᾳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν διαναπαύει τοὺς πεπιεσμένους.” καὶ τοσαῦτα μὲν ὁ Διονύσιος.

English · Claude translation

For even to this day the governor does not cease cruelly killing, as I said before, some of those brought before him, tearing others with tortures, wasting others away in prisons and bonds, commanding that no one approach them, and searching whether anyone appears.
