ὅπερ ἐγὼ μὲν οὐκ ἐτόλμησα ποιῆσαι, φήσας “αὐτάρκη τὴν πολυχρόνιον αὐτῷ κοινωνίαν εἰς τοῦτο γεγονέναι. εὐχαριστίας γὰρ ἐπακούσαντα, καὶ συν- ‟ἐπιφθεγξάμενον τὸ ἀμὴν, καὶ τραπέζῃ παραστάντα, ‟καὶ χεῖρας εἰς ὑποδοχὴν τῆς ἁγίας τροφῆς προτεί- “ναντα, καὶ ταύτην καταδεξάμενον, καὶ τοῦ σώματος ‟καὶ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ῾μετασχόντα ἱκανῷ χρόνῳ, οὐκ ἂν ἐξ ὑπαρχῆς ἀνα- ‟σκευάζειν ἔτι τολμήσαιμι· θαρσεῖν δὲ ἐκέλευον, καὶ “μετὰ βεβαίας πίστεως καὶ ἀγαθῆς συνειδήσεως τῇ ‟μετοχῇ τῶν ἁγίων προσιέναι.

English · Claude translation

This I did not dare to do, saying that his long communion had been sufficient for this. For one who had heard the thanksgiving and joined in saying the Amen, who had stood at the table and stretched out his hands to receive the holy food, and had received it and partaken of the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for a long time, I would not dare to renew from the beginning.
