ταῦτα δὲ τοῖς χρόνοις προιόντα, ὁσημέραι τε εἰς αὔξησιν καὶ μέγεθος ἐπιδιδόντα οὐδεὶς ἀνεῖργε φθόνος, οὐδέ τις δαίμων πονηρὸς οἰός τε ἦν βασκαίνειν οὐδʼ ἀνθρώπων ἐπιβουλαῖς κωλύειν, εἰς ὅσον ἡ θεία καὶ οὐράνιος χεὶρ ἔσκεπέ τε καὶ ἐφρούρει οἷα δὴ ἄξιον ὄντα τὸν ἑαυτῆς λαόν.

As these things advanced with time and grew daily in increase and greatness, no envy held them back, nor was any evil demon able to cast its spell on them or hinder them through human plots, so long as the divine and heavenly hand sheltered and guarded its own people, as being worthy.
