ἄλλοι δʼ αὖ πάλιν ἄλλως τὸν ἀγῶνα διεξῄεσαν· ὁ μὲν γάρ τις ἑτέρων βίᾳ συνωθούντων καὶ ταῖς παμμιάροις καὶ ἀνάγνοις προσαγόντων θυσίαις ὡς τεθυκὼς ἀπηλλάττετο, καὶ εἰ μὴ τεθυκὼς ἦν, ὁ δὲ μηδʼ ὅλως προσπελάσας, μηδέ τινος ἐναγοῦς ἐφαψάμενος, εἰρηκότων δʼ ἑτέρων ὅτι τεθύκοι, σιωπῇ φέρων τὴν συκοφαντίαν ἀπῄει, ἄλλος ἡμιθανὴς αἰρόμενος ὡσὰν ἤδη νεκρὸς ἐρρίπτετο.

Others, again, went through the contest in other ways. One man, while others forcibly pushed him and brought him to the utterly foul and impure sacrifices, was dismissed as though he had sacrificed, even though he had not; another, who had not come near at all nor touched anything polluted, but others said he had sacrificed, went away bearing the false accusation in silence; another, taken up half dead, was thrown out as if already a corpse.
