Refutation of All Heresies 5.26.21

Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.

Summary: Eden sets the angel Naas to torment Elohim's spirit in humans, and Elohim sends Baruch to help.

English · Claude translation

And Eden gives great authority to her third angel, Naas, to punish with every punishment the spirit of Elohim that is in human beings, so that through the spirit Elohim himself might be punished, who had abandoned his consort contrary to the compacts made between them. Seeing this, the Father Elohim sends out Baruch, the third of his own angels, to help the spirit that is in human beings.
