Refutation of All Heresies 6.13.1
Authorship disputed: The work names no author. Book 1 was long printed among Origen's works as the Philosophumena; after books 4–10 were found in a manuscript from Mount Athos (published 1851), it was assigned to Hippolytus, the usual view today, though some scholars ascribe it to another Roman writer of the same circle. Books 2 and 3 are lost, and book 4 lacks its beginning.
Summary: Simon pairs the powers with heaven and earth, sun and moon, air and water, and makes the seventh power the speaker of Isaiah 1:2.

Τῶν δὲ ἓξ δυνάμεων τούτων καὶ τῆς ἑβδόμης τῆς μετὰ τῶν ἓξ καλεῖ τὴν πρώτην συζυγίαν νοῦν καὶ ἐπίνοιαν, οὐρανὸν καὶ γῆν· καὶ τὸν μὲν ἄρσενα ἄνωθεν ἐπιβλέπειν καὶ προνοεῖν τῆς συζύγου, τὴν δὲ γῆν ὑποδέχεσθαι κάτω τοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ νοεροὺς καταφερομένους τῇ γῇ συγγενεῖς καρπούς. Of these six powers, and of the seventh that is with the six, he calls the first pair Mind and Thought, heaven and earth; the male looks down from above and cares for his consort, while the earth below receives the intelligent fruits, akin to the earth, that are brought down from heaven. “For this reason,” he says, “the Word, often looking toward the things begotten from Mind and Thought, that is, from heaven and earth, says: ‘Hear, O heaven, and give ear, O earth, for the Lord has spoken: I have begotten sons and raised them up, but they have rejected me.’ The one who says this,” he says, “is the seventh power, he who stands, stood, and will stand; for he is the cause of these good things which Moses praised, saying they were very good. And Voice and Name are sun and moon; Reasoning and Reflection are air and water. And in all these, as I said, the great, infinite power, he who stands, is mixed and blended.”
