- 1The second prayer ascribed to Cyprian opens by invoking the God of the patriarchs, the Judge and Giver of life, and asks to be freed from this mortal world.
- 2The petitioner confesses his sins and asks God to hear him as he heard Jonah, the Ninevites, David, the three young men, Daniel, Tobit and Sarah, Susanna, Hezekiah, and Thecla.
- 3The petitioner thanks the Father for sending his Son, born of the Virgin by the Holy Spirit, to free us from death.
- 4The petitioner invokes the Son of God through his miracles and his work in creation.
- 5The petitioner recalls the angels' praise and Christ's promises about prayer, and declares himself ready to shed his blood for Christ's name.
- 6The prayer ends by confessing Christ's passion, descent, resurrection, and return, and asks for victory over the devil and deliverance from eternal punishment.
