3.119CSEL 3.1:183–184

That the yoke of the law, which we have cast off, was heavy, and that the yoke of the Lord, which we have taken up, is light. In the second Psalm: “Why have the nations raged, and the peoples devised vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ: Let us break their bonds and cast their yoke from us.” Also in the Gospel according to Matthew: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is good and my burden is light.” Also in the Acts of the Apostles: “It has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no burden other than these necessary things: that you abstain from idolatries and from blood and from sexual immorality; and whatever you do not wish to be done to you, do not do to another.”
