ὃς οὔτʼ ἑ σύμβολα καὶ τύπους ἀρχιερωσύνης παρά του λαβὼν, ἀλλʼ οὐδὲ γένος τὸ περὶ σῶμα ἐξ ἱερωμένων κατάγων, οὐδʼ ἀνδρῶν δορυφορίαις ἐπὶ βασιλείαν προαχθεὶς, οὐδὲ μὴν προφήτης ὁμοίως τοῖς πάλαι γενόμενος, οὐδʼ ἀξίας ὅλως ἤ τινος παρὰ Ἰουδαίοις τυχὼν προεδρίας, ὅμως τοῖς πᾶσιν εἰ καὶ μὴ τοῖς συμβόλοις, ἀλλʼ αὐτῇ γε τῇ ἀληθείᾳ παρὰ τοῦ πατρὸς κεκόσμητο.

He received no symbols and types of high priesthood from anyone, nor did he trace his bodily descent from priests; he was not advanced to a kingdom by the spears of armed men, nor was he a prophet like those of old, nor did he obtain any rank at all or any precedence among the Jews; yet he had been adorned by the Father with all these things, not in symbols, but in truth itself.
