καὶ ὁ μὲν “ρος καὶ ὁ Σάγκτος αὖθις διῄεσαν ἐν τῷ “διὰ πάσης κολάσεως, ὡς μηδὲν ὅλως “τες, μᾶλλον δὲ ὡς διὰ πλειόνων ἤδη κλήρων ἐκβε- “βιακότες τὸν ἀντίπαλον, καὶ περὶ τοῦ στεφάνου “τοῦ τὸν ἀγῶνα ἔχοντες, ὑπέφερον πάλιν τὰς “δους τῶν μαστίγων τὰς ἐκεῖσε εἰθισμένας, καὶ ἄπο τῶν θηρίων ἑλκηθμοὺς, καὶ πάνθʼ ὅσα μαινό- “μενος ὁ δῆμος ἄλλοι ἀλλαχόθεν ἐπεβόων καὶ ἐπεκε- λεύοντο, καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶσι τὴν σιδηρᾶν καθέδραν, ἐφʼ “ ἧς τηγανιζόμενα τὰ σώματα κνίσης αὐτοὺς ἐνεφόρει. “

English · Claude translation

Maturus and Sanctus again passed through every punishment in the amphitheatre, as though they had suffered nothing at all before, or rather as though they had already overcome the adversary in many bouts and were now contending for the crown itself. They bore again the gauntlets of whips customary there, the mauling by the beasts, and everything the maddened people, some from one side and some from another, shouted for and demanded, and above all the iron chair, on which their bodies were roasted and filled them with the reek.
