ὁ δʼ ἐπʼ ἀνατολῆς τύραννος Μαξιμῖνος, ὡσὰν πρὸς ἀδελφὸν τὴν κακίαν πρὸς τὸν ἐπὶ Ῥώμης φιλίαν κρύβδην σπενδόμενος, ἐπὶ πλεῖστον χρόνον λανθάνειν ἐφρόντιζε, φωραθείς γέ τοι ὕστερον δίκην τίννυσι τὴν ἀξίαν.

The tyrant in the East, Maximin, secretly made a pact of friendship with the one at Rome, as with a brother in wickedness, and took care for a very long time to keep it hidden; but when he was later found out, he paid the just penalty.
