Καὶ οὐ μάτην ἡμεῖς εἰς τοῦτον πεπιστεύκαμεν, οὐδʼ ἐπλανήθημεν ὑπὸ τῶν οὕτως διδαξάντων, ἀλλὰ καὶ θαυμαστῇ προνοίᾳ θεοῦ τοῦτο γέγονεν, ἵνα ἡμεῖς ὑμῶν, τῶν νομιζομένων οὐκ ὄντων δὲ οὔτε φιλοθέων οὔτε συνετῶν, συνετώτεροι καὶ θεοσεβέστεροι εὑρεθῶμεν διὰ τῆς κλήσεως τῆς καινῆς καὶ αἰωνίου διαθήκης, τουτέστι τοῦ Χριστοῦ.

“And we have not believed in him in vain, nor were we led astray by those who taught us so; but this came about by the wonderful providence of God, so that we, through the calling of the new and eternal covenant, that is, Christ, might be found more understanding and more God-fearing than you, who are thought to be, but are not, lovers of God and understanding.
