Ταῦτα ὑμεῖς μὲν εἰς τὸν γηόραν καὶ τοὺς προσηλύτους εἰρῆσθαι νομίζετε, τῷ ὄντι δὲ εἰς ἡμᾶς εἴρηται τοὺς διὰ Ἰησοῦ πεφωτισμένους. Ἦ γὰρ ἂν κἀκείνοις ἐμαρτύρει ὁ Χριστός· νῦν δὲ διπλότερον υἱοὶ γεέννης, ὡς αὐτὸς εἶπε, γίνεσθε. Οὐ πρὸς ἐκείνους οὖν οὐδὲ τὰ διὰ τῶν προφητῶν εἰρημένα λέλεκται, ἀλλὰ πρὸς ἡμᾶς, περὶ ὧν ὁ λόγος λέγει· Ἄξω ἐν ὁδῷ τυφλοὺς ἣν οὐκ ἔγνωσαν, καὶ τρίβους οὓς οὐκ ᾔδεισαν πατήσουσι. Κἀγὼ μάρτυς, λέγει κύριος ὁ θεός, καὶ ὁ παῖς μου ὃν ἐξελεξάμην.

English · Claude translation

“You think that these words were spoken of the sojourner and the proselytes, but in fact they were spoken of us who have been illuminated through Jesus. For otherwise Christ would have borne witness to them too; but now you become twice as much sons of Gehenna, as he himself said. It was not to them, then, that the words of the prophets were spoken, but to us, of whom the word says: ‘I will lead the blind in a way they did not know, and they shall tread paths they did not know. And I am witness, says the Lord God, and my servant whom I have chosen.’
