Διὰ γὰρ τοῦ προφήτου Ἡσαίου προεπιστάμενος ὁ θεὸς ταῦτα μέλλειν ὑμᾶς ποιεῖν κατηράσατο οὕτως· Οὐαὶ τῇ ψυχῇ αὐτῶν· βεβούλευνται βουλὴν πονηρὰν καθʼ ἑαυτῶν, εἰπόντες· Δήσωμεν τὸν δίκαιον, ὅτι δύσχρηστος ἡμῖν ἐστι. Τοίνυν τὰ γεννήματα τῶν ἔργων αὐτῶν φάγονται. Οὐαὶ τῷ ἀνόμῳ· πονηρὰ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ συμβήσεται αὐτῷ. Λαός μου, οἱ πράκτορες ὑμῶν καλαμῶνται ὑμᾶς καὶ οἱ ἀπαιτοῦντες κυριεύσουσιν ὑμῶν.

“For God, foreknowing through the prophet Isaiah that you would do these things, cursed you thus: ‘Woe to their soul; they have planned an evil plan against themselves, saying: Let us bind the righteous one, for he is troublesome to us. Therefore they shall eat the fruits of their works. Woe to the lawless one; evil shall befall him according to the works of his hands. My people, your exactors strip you, and those who demand rule over you.
