Ὑμεῖς δὲ ὑπολαμβάνετε ὅτι τῷ γένει ὑμῶν μόνον ἔλεγεν ἢ τῇ γῇ. Ὅτι γὰρ πᾶσα ἡ γῆ, ὡς ἡ γραφὴ λέγει, κατεκλύσθη, καὶ ὑψώθη τὸ ὕδωρ ἐπάνω πάντων ὀρέων πήχεις δεκαπέντε, ὁ θεὸς οὐ τῇ γῇ φαίνεται εἰρηκώς, ἀλλὰ τῷ λαῷ τῷ πειθομένῳ αὐτῷ, ᾧ καὶ ἀνάπαυσιν προητοίμασεν ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ, ὡς προαποδέδεικται διὰ πάντων τῶν ἐπὶ τοῦ κατακλυσμοῦ συμβόλων· εἶπον δέ, διʼ ὕδατος καὶ πίστεως καὶ ξύλου οἱ προπαρασκευαζόμενοι καὶ μετανοοῦντες ἐφʼ οἷς ἥμαρτον ἐκφεύξονται τὴν μέλλουσαν ἐπέρχεσθαι τοῦ θεοῦ κρίσιν.

English · Claude translation

“But you suppose that he was speaking only to your race or to the land. For since the whole earth, as the Scripture says, was flooded, and the water rose fifteen cubits above all the mountains, God evidently spoke not to the land but to the people who obey him, for whom he has also prepared a rest in Jerusalem, as has been proved before by all the symbols of the flood; I mean that those who prepare themselves and repent of their sins will escape through water and faith and wood the judgment of God that is to come.
