Μετὰ δὲ τὴν Ἰησοῦ τοῦ ἡμετέρου Χριστοῦ ἐν τῷ γένει ὑμῶν φανέρωσιν καὶ θάνατον οὐδαμοῦ προφήτης γέγονεν οὐδέ ἐστιν, ἀλλὰ καὶ τὸ εἶναι ὑμᾶς ὑπὸ ἴδιον βασιλέα ἐπαύσατο, καὶ προσέτι ἡ γῆ ὑμῶν ἠρημώθη καὶ ὡς ὀπωροφυλάκιον καταλέλειπται. Τὸ δὲ εἰπεῖν τὸν λόγον διὰ τοῦ Ἰακώβ· Καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται προσδοκία ἐθνῶν, συμβολικῶς δύο παρουσίας αὐτοῦ ἐσήμανε καὶ τὰ ἔθνη μέλλειν αὐτῷ πιστεύειν, ὅπερ ὀψέ ποτε πάρεστιν ἰδεῖν ὑμῖν· οἱ γὰρ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐθνῶν ἁπάντων διὰ τῆς πίστεως τῆς τοῦ Χριστοῦ θεοσεβεῖς καὶ δίκαιοι γενόμενοι, πάλιν παραγενησόμενον αὐτὸν προσδοκῶμεν.

“But after the appearance and death of Jesus our Christ in your race, no prophet has arisen anywhere, nor does one exist; and moreover your being under your own king has ceased, and further your land has been laid waste and left like a lodge in a garden of cucumbers. And the word through Jacob, ‘And he shall be the expectation of the nations,’ symbolically signified his two comings, and that the nations would believe in him; which you can see at last.
