Καὶ ὅτι οἱ παρʼ ὑμῖν προφῆται, ἕκαστος μίαν τινὰ ἢ καὶ δευτέραν δύναμιν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ λαμβάνοντες, ταῦτα ἐποίουν καὶ ἐλάλουν ἃ καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀπὸ τῶν γραφῶν ἐμάθομεν, κατανοήσατε καὶ τὰ ὑπʼ ἐμοῦ λεγόμενα. Σοφίας μὲν γὰρ πνεῦμα Σολομῶν ἔσχε, συνέσεως δὲ καὶ βουλῆς Δανιήλ, ἰσχύος δὲ καὶ εὐσεβείας Μωσῆς, καὶ Ἡλίας φόβου, καὶ γνώσεως Ἡσαΐας· καὶ οἱ ἄλλοι αὖ ὁμοίως ἢ μίαν ἕκαστος ἢ ἐναλλὰξ ἄλλην τινὰ μετʼ ἄλλης δυνάμεως ἔσχον, οἶον καὶ Ἱερεμίας καὶ οἱ δώδεκα καὶ Δαυῒδ καὶ οἱ ἄλλοι ἁπλῶς ὅσοι γεγόνασι παρʼ ὑμῖν προφῆται.

“And observe what I say, that your prophets, each receiving some one or two powers from God, did and said the things which we too have learned from the Scriptures. For Solomon had the spirit of wisdom, Daniel of understanding and counsel, Moses of might and piety, Elijah of fear, and Isaiah of knowledge; and the others likewise had either one each, or one in turn with another, as Jeremiah and the twelve and David and in a word all the others who were prophets among you.
