Ὅταν λέγῃ διὰ Ἡσαΐου· Αὐτὸς ὡς πρόβατον ἐπὶ σφαγὴν ἤχθη, καὶ ὡς ἀμνὸς ἐναντίον τοῦ κείραντος, ὡς ἤδη τοῦ πάθους γενομένου λέγει. Καὶ ὅταν πάλιν λέγῃ· Ἐγὼ ἐξεπέτασα τὰς χεῖράς μου ἐπὶ λαὸν ἀπειθοῦντα καὶ ἀντιλέγοντα, καὶ ὅταν λέγῃ· Κύριε, τίς ἐπίστευσε τῇ ἀκοῇ ἡμῶν; ὡς ἤδη γεγενημένων πραγμάτων ἐξαγγελίαν οἱ λόγοι σημαίνοντες λελεγμένοι εἰσί. Καὶ γὰρ ἐν παραβολῇ λίθον πολλαχοῦ καλεῖν ἀπέδειξα τὸν Χριστὸν καὶ ἐν τροπολογίᾳ Ἰακὼβ καὶ Ἰσραήλ.

English · Claude translation

“When he says through Isaiah, ‘He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb before the shearer,’ he speaks as though the suffering had already happened. And again when he says, ‘I have spread out my hands to a disobedient and contradicting people,’ and when he says, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’, the words are spoken as announcing things that had already happened. For I have shown that he often calls Christ a stone in a parable, and figuratively Jacob and Israel.
