Καὶ τὰ ἄλλα δὲ πάντα ἁπλῶς, ὦ ἄνδρες, ἔφην, τὰ ὑπὸ Μωσέως διαταχθέντα δύναμαι καταριθμῶν ἀποδεικνύναι τύπους καὶ σύμβολα καὶ καταγγελίας τῶν τῷ Χριστῷ γίνεσθαι μελλόντων καὶ τῶν εἰς αὐτὸν πιστεύειν προεγνωσμένων καὶ τῶν ὑπʼ αὐτοῦ τοῦ Χριστοῦ ὁμοίως γίνεσθαι μελλόντων. Ἀλλʼ ἐπειδὴ καὶ ἃ κατηριθμησάμην τανῦν ἱκανὰ δοκεῖ μοι εἶναι, ἐπὶ τὸν λόγον τῇ τάξει παριὼν ἔρχομαι.

“And, in a word, sirs,” I said, “I could enumerate all the other things ordained by Moses and prove them to be types and symbols and announcements of what was to happen to Christ, and of those foreknown as going to believe in him, and of what was likewise to be done by Christ himself. But since what I have now enumerated seems to me sufficient, I pass on and come to the argument in order.
