Κἀγὼ εἶπον· Ἀκούσατε, φίλοι, τίνι γραφῇ πειθόμενος ταῦτα πράττω. Ἰησοῦς ἐκέλευσεν ἀγαπᾶν καὶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς, ὅπερ καὶ διὰ Ἡσαίου ἐκεκήρυκτο διὰ πλειόνων, ἐν οἷς καὶ τὸ μυστήριον τῆς πάλιν γενέσεως ἡμῶν, καὶ ἁπλῶς πάντων τῶν τὸν Χριστὸν ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ φανήσεσθαι προσδοκώντων καὶ διʼ ἔργων εὐαρεστεῖν αὐτῷ σπουδαζόντων.

And I said, “Hear, friends, what Scripture persuades me to do these things. Jesus commanded us to love even our enemies, which was also proclaimed through Isaiah in many words, in which there is also the mystery of our new birth, and in a word of all who expect Christ to appear in Jerusalem and strive to please him by their works.
