Εἰ δὲ καὶ ἀτίμως οὕτως σταυρωθῆναι τὸν Χριστόν, ἀποροῦμεν· ἐπικατάρατος γὰρ ὁ σταυρούμενος ἐν τῷ νόμῳ λέγεται εἶναι· ὥστε πρὸς τοῦτο ἀκμὴν δυσπείστως ἔχω. Παθητὸν μὲν τὸν Χριστὸν ὅτι αἱ γραφαὶ κηρύσσουσι, φανερόν ἐστιν· εἰ δὲ διὰ τοῦ ἐν τῷ νόμῳ κεκατηραμένου πάθους, βουλόμεθα μαθεῖν, εἰ ἔχεις καὶ περὶ τούτου ἀποδεῖξαι.

English · Claude translation

“But whether the Christ was to be so shamefully crucified, we are at a loss; for the one who is crucified is said in the law to be accursed; so that on this point I am still hard to persuade. It is plain that the Scriptures proclaim that the Christ is to suffer; but whether it was by the suffering cursed in the law, we wish to learn, if you can prove this too.”
